In December 2025, Washington state experienced widespread and historic flooding after an intense atmospheric river brought record rainfall across Western Washington. State and federal emergency declarations have been issued, and responders continue working around the clock to support those affected.

American Red Cross – Disaster Relief

The American Red Cross is on the ground in Washington, opening emergency shelters and providing food, relief supplies, and emotional support to evacuees and families affected by the flooding. Red Cross volunteers continue their work with local partners to meet evolving needs across affected communities.

Washington State Flood Relief Funds

In addition to national organizations, local relief funds — such as those from the Skagit Community Foundation, United Way of Skagit County, and Whatcom Community Foundation’s Resilience Fund — are providing emergency support to residents, nonprofit partners, and impacted families. These funds support immediate needs, including food and shelter, as well as longer-term community recovery.
