Workforce Development

As Finance Sector Lead for Career Connect Washington (CCW), the Washington Bankers Association plays a pivotal role in shaping the state’s career-connected learning landscape. In this leadership position, WBA collaborates with employers, educators, labor, and community leaders to create and expand industry-aligned programs, such as internships, apprenticeships, job shadows, and Career Launch offerings, that help students and young adults explore, prepare, and transition successfully into finance careers.

At the same time, WBA has strengthened its impact through a significant organizational shift. In August 2024, CareerWork$ officially reorganized to become an affiliate of WBA, deepening the longstanding partnership around BankWork$, MediWork$, and ReadyWork$ training programs.

This reorganization expands access to free, employer-endorsed training pathways into banking and related careers, increases operational resources and networks, and enhances WBA’s ability to deliver equitable workforce development at scale across Washington state.

Recently, the North Carolina Bankers Association announced it would launch the BankWork$ program in Raleigh, N.C. for the first time. The program has successfully operated in Charlotte for many years, and NC Bankers wanted to duplicate the program in their own headquarters.

Thanks to the WBA's reorganization, they had a clear path to bring the program in-house and run the classes themselves. Students will be able to participate in the free 8-week program at the NCBA headquarters, in a newly updated space, and have access to learn from bankers invited by the NCBA team.

WBA and CareerWork$ are excited to celebrate what we hope is the first of many future state partnerships!
